List of Japanese monarchs : ウィキペディア英語版 | List of Emperors of Japan
This list of Emperors of Japan presents the traditional order of succession.〔Nussbaum, Louis Frédéric. (2005). ("Traditional Order of Tennō" in ''Japan Encyclopedia,'' p. 962. )〕 Records of the reigns of the Emperors of Japan are compiled according to the traditional Japanese calendar. In the ''nengō'' system which has been in use since the late-seventh century, years are numbered using the Japanese era name and the number of years which have taken place since that ''nengō'' era started.〔Nussbaum, ("Nengō" in ''Japan Encyclopedia,'' p. 704. )〕 The sequence, order and dates of the first 28 emperors of Japan, and especially the first 16, are based on the Japanese Calendar system.〔A list of other Japanese calling themselves or being called emperors () can be seen on the Japanese Wikipedia page 天皇の一覧 (List of Japanese monarchs).〕 ==Emperors of Japan (660 BC–present)==
